He is co-author, with Nicholas Purcell, of \u003ci\u003eThe Corrupting Sea: A Study of Mediterranean History \u003c\/i\u003e(2000), of which a sequel, \u003ci\u003eLiquid Continents\u003c\/i\u003e, is in preparation, and author of two forthcoming volumes: \u003ci\u003eThe Earliest Hospitals, and Hospitals and Healing from Antiquity to the Later Middle Ages\u003c\/i\u003e.
