In the third novel of the series, Siblings George and Maria find themselves outside of the zone following the impact. From different parts of the country they each witness the slow motion catastrophe that is a nuclear winter. Struggling to survive as it all falls apart, they soon regret not staying in Tucson.
The Calizona series is humorously crafted as a mockumentary told a hundred years after the rebirth of civilization. Images of this bleak world are revealed through personal journals, video logs, surveillance footage, and a little editorial assistance from the archaeologist who has transcribed the tale. Calizona is an immersive world, engineered to appeal to a variety of readers who have grown up in a world of reality TV.
