How large is the world you inhabit? Has it always been that size? Will it always be?
Marco Menero has stumbled upon the greatest innovation in a generation: human teleportation. In 2064, a TeleNetwork has been developed in Baltimore, Marco's home. This mid-sized American city has reclaimed its significance as the proving grounds for the future. But such a paradigm-shifting rupture has consequences-consequences that are weighing on Marco's shoulders. Opponents and allies are watching his every move. Some want to acquire TeleNetworks for their own cities, some want to exploit the evolving landscape, and all are seeking personal gain. Most of all, they want to reveal the secrets behind the obscure origins of teleportation and Marco's mysterious talents.
City on a Whim paints a picture of a not-too-distant future that, despite being rocked by a once-in-a-century technological breakthrough, shares the challenges and social dynamics that define the American city today.
