These abstracts embody virtually every shred of evidence available in the local and general archives of Virginia pertaining to the families Abstracts of 17th- and 18th-Century Virginia Records Relating to the Families of Allen, Bacon, Ballard, Batchelder, Blouet, Brassieur, (Brashear), Cary, Crenshaw, Dabney, Exum, Ferris, Fontaine, Gray, Hardy, Isham, Jordan, Langston, Lyddall, Mann, Mosby, Palmer, Pasteur, Pleasants, Povall, Randolph, Satterwhite, Scott, Smith, Valentine, Waddy, Watts, Winston, Womack, and Woodson. There are, for example, abstracts founded on land and probate records, marriage bonds and ministers' returns, order books, wills, deeds, parish registers, newspapers (e.g., the "Virginia Gazette," private letters and diaries, and much more.
