Frustrated by her stubbornness, Marianne's boyfriend Ruari cools his heels at home in Maple Hill. When his fiercely independent sister, Erin, asks for his help out of the blue, something is really wrong. A trauma from Erin's childhood might just hold the key to Marianne's dangerous journey.

As the clock ticks toward a showdown in the Maple Hill Cemetery on Halloween night, Marianne will have to learn magic and convince some rowdy ghosts to help her or doom Canopus County to suffer from an ancient, malignant hunger.
