Janie confides in her best friends and in her diary, which she considers to be letters to God, and shares them with the reader throughout the story. In part two, Janie's whole world is turned upside-down. Physical and emotional changes occur just in time for Janie to begin eighth-grade. Janie's Faith wavers. Capturing the nostalgia of the 1980's, "Janie's Prayer" borders on Historical Fiction when Janie suddenly finds herself in Fatima in the year 1917. Why is she there? Is Janie supposed to help?
