Magic on the Mountain - Paperback
Details
by Glenn Weybright (Author), John Tracy (Author)
In the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon, thirty-five miles northeast of Pendleton, lies a peaceful and secluded ninety-two-acre property of pine, oak, and fir forest with meadows, along with deer, elk, an occasional black bear, smaller animals, and many species of birds and insects. There is a small lake, a creek, hiking trails, and rustic buildings. This place is Camp Meadowood Springs, and it is where "magic on the mountain" happens. It is also often described as the best-kept secret in Oregon, partly due to its location, which is over four hours away from Western Oregon, where most of the population lives and where the majority of services for children with special needs are located.
Magic on the Mountain tells the story of Camp Meadowood Springs, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit residential speech and language therapy camp for children from Oregon, Washington, and occasionally other states. In the literature on habilitation and rehabilitation for children and teens with communication disorders, the Meadowood story deserves a place. Therefore, the purpose of this book is to tell the story of Camp Meadowood Springs to honor its role as a special place for kids and teens to learn.
