Father Robert Le Meur, OMI (b. 1922, d. 1985) arrived in Tuktoyaktuk in July 1946 to begin his missionary work amongst the Inuvialuit. Memories of the Arctic is his story of how he learned to live in this new environment, and of people he knew and places he lived during the forty years he spent in the north. It is also an adventure story - Father Le Meur's, and that of the people he came to know and admire - and a glimpse into a time of rapid change in the Canadian Western Arctic.
