She is the author of Victorian Biography Reconsidered: A Study of Nineteenth-Century 'Hidden' Lives (OUP, 2010) and French Novels and the Victorians (OUP, 2017). She was previously editor for Oxford World's Classics new edition of The Mill on the Floss (2015).
