After manning a tank all through World War Two, I thought working as a private detective in North Africa's most lawless town would be a cinch.
Boy, was I wrong.
I'm Kent "Shorty" MacAllister, and when a beautiful Frenchwoman eased into my office and hired me to find a missing person, I knew there was more to the case than met the eye. Every other detective in Tangier was more experienced than I was, and she offered way more than my going rate.
Soon I was up to my ears in trouble in a country I didn't understand, getting pushed around by factions I couldn't see.
And I had my own angle. I was trying to play with those very same factions. If I got caught, I'd be the one who would go missing. Permanently.
