Workless Society - Hardcover
Details
by Narayanan V K (Author)
In this book, a key assumption in most contemporary management writing is challenged viz. that work is ubiquitous. With rapid technological evolution in focus, the author explores how it has brought human beings to the threshold of being liberated from work as we now conceive of it. He reaches back to ideas originally put forth by Thruston Veblen, arguing that human beings are at the cusp of an era defined by the visible expansion of the "leisure class." Using the most debated three policy prescriptions in the US - universal income tax, social safety net, and investments for the future - and existing conceptions built on the presumption of scarcity, the author attempts to reason with the inconceivable changes that comes with the expansion.
