Based on existing state-of-the-art science, Deadline is a fast-paced sci-fi suspense thriller that follows a father's desperate fight to protect his genetically unique daughter from powerful forces that want to control her for their own purposes. Protagonist newspaper reporter Shawn Shaw's 10-year-old adopted daughter holds extraordinary genetic potential: she was bred and engineered to be exceptionally intelligent, part of an experimental project using CRISPR gene-editing technology that could lead to the most significant medical breakthrough in a century. A secretive group of influential scientists and intellectuals known as the Destiny Foundation, believes the girl's abilities are central to fulfilling their goal of creating an elite society. To control the breakthrough she represents, they will go to extreme lengths - including eliminating Shawn unless he cooperates or is outwitted. Shawn has spent years protecting his daughter from her past, but when Destiny closes in, he must make impossible decisions about how to safeguard her freedom and her chance for a normal life. He risks everything in the race to outsmart the secretive scientists and their powerful supercomputer that aids their plans.
