Comte de Mirabeau (Honore Gabriel Riquetti, 1749-1791), a French revolutionary leader, was the most important figure in the first two years of the French revolution. The two representative Frenchmen of the eighteenth century are Voltaire and Mirabeau. Voltaire was the last great influence of the old order, and Mirabeau the first of the new.
