Details
by Stephen Cano (Author)
Private Pedro Cano fought in this Hurtgen Forest area on December 2nd and 3rd, 1944. His actions on these days would earn him the Medal of Honor. As a young boy, I would often hear my father (Alvaro Cano) proudly talk about his cousin and World War II hero, Pedro Cano. I have been privileged to uncover long lost history about Pedro's experiences in the army and the war in Europe, as well as stitching together the events after Pedro received his Distinguished Service Cross in the mail. I have seen the trenches where Pedro and many brave men fought and died on December 2nd and 3rd, 1944. This book is my humble attempt to chronicle and preserve the journey of WW II Medal of Honor recipient Private Pedro Cano as well as those men who fought closely with him. He was an army soldier in the 4th Infantry Division, 8th Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, Company C. Pedro experienced some of the most historical and ferocious battles in American history. His story is one of sacrifice, heroism, loss, historic insult, humility, honor, and truth.
